Greenwashing

Short description

This is not an app that only exists as an idea, but the transformative potential is significant. There is so much PR these days and the potential to use a mobile application to show (in real time) what’s behind the brands is amazing.

This is how the idea for the app is described:
“Ever wonder if a company is really green friendly or just a Greenwasher? The Greenwashing Informant application gives you a highly evolved search database on the go. Just search for the company in “question” on the G.I. application and you will get a full report on the company, including their G.I rating.
A companies G.I. rating is based on a series of factors including overall global impact, money spent on “green” advertising, consumer feedback, and the nature of their products. The G.I. rating system ranges from 1 to 5. One is the lowest score a company can get and five is the highest score and the worst rating. An example of a five rating would be a company that is a repeated Grennwashing offender and has a very large negative impact on the environment.
The application also provides a detailed list of products that the company makes. This makes it easier to sort through the proliferation of green-friendly companies, and find the ones that really are making strides in sustainability. ”

The best with the app/supporting initiative

+ It would create transparency regarding the actual actions by the companies that try and sell us things. In that way people would understand that they actually support when buying these products.

The weak parts of the app/supporting initiative

- it does not exist.

What could accelerate this app/supporting initiative into a world changer?

➢ Being made ;)
